Where Can I Get Omiai For Foreigners?
Where Can I Get Omiai For Foreigners?
Where can I get for foreigners? Big question, obviously here in Japan there is a huge Omiai tradition, it is a great way to meet Japanese people for marriage. Even if you're overseas and you're wanting to find a Japanese spouse, getting the Omiai really, really big step if you're wanting reliable introductions to find a Japanese woman for marriage or even a Japanese man for marriage.
The question, though, as a foreigner is “how do you get Omiai?” Because most of the marriage agencies are all in Japanese, and that can create a significant challenge. So, my name is Stephen Frost, I'm the founder of Marriage Matching here in Osaka, Japan. Yes, we are a specialist Japanese marriage agency and we do work with people from overseas as well as foreigners here in Japan and Japanese people alike.
We also do dating coaching for those who need that extra bit of help when they're looking to achieve dating success. So, how can I get Omiai for foreigners? Realistically, you need to find an agency, a Japanese marriage agency, or a Japanese matchmaker who will actually work with foreigners. Which means that you need someone who is at the very least bilingual.
So you need someone who obviously can communicate fluidly in Japanese so that they can communicate with Japanese partners. You also need someone who can communicate well in English or whatever your chosen language is. So you need to find an agency or a matchmaker who can cover off basically at least two languages, your main language or English if you speak good English, and also Japanese.
So, this rules out a huge number of marriage agencies here in Japan, because most of them they only communicate in Japanese, and yes, you can go through translation software. Absolutely. Google translate is out there. There's other different things you can go through ChatGPT if you want to get translations done. The challenge with doing that is that a lot of stuff gets missed in nuance, and when it actually comes down to organizing things and making sure that you're meeting the right person, things can get a bit stressful, and we know this because we've encountered people who have a reasonable knowledge of Japanese, and they've registered with an agency that’s purely in Japanese, and they've had multiple challenges with actually getting Omiai organized and meeting the right people. Which is why they then come to us, because they can talk with us fluidly and fluently, and actually make sure things get done right.
So, this again comes back to “how can I get Omiai for foreigners?” Working with a reliable agency that does that on a day in, day out basis. Which is realistically what we do. Obviously, when it comes down to the Omiai itself, you will be communicating directly with the potential partner. For the Omiai themselves, there is never a translator present, there never should be.
It should always be between the two of you, and there is very, very solid reason for this. You need to be able to communicate well with each other if you're going to form a relationship. If you do not share a language that you can both speak to a reasonable level, you're going to hit multiple problems when it comes to actually building a relationship, understanding each other, and knowing whether you've actually got true compatibility.
Most compatibility comes off things like shared values, shared beliefs. Unless you can actually discuss things down to actually understanding that kind of level of a potential partner, you hit a really serious issue about what you can actually do to realistically get to know them fully, and whether you can actually understand them enough to then move forward towards marriage.
So, Omiai themselves should always just be done with the two of you, and you need to be able to communicate easily and effortlessly. It's the process before that, which leads up to actually being able to have that introduction, that Omiai, which is where being able to communicate fluently in your own language, makes it much, much easier.
It also means that if you've got any questions about someone that you're potentially thinking about meeting, you can ask that matchmaker. You can ask the agency, and they can then check and verify. If it's something within a profile that you're missing the nuance on it, because the translation is not coming out quite well. You can get that deeper insight from someone who actually works between the two languages.
So, “how do you get Omiai for foreigners?” You work with a Japanese marriage agency, a Japanese matchmaker that does that kind of thing fluidly because they can communicate across English mainly and also with Japanese, and that is the best way to do it. So, my name again, Stephen Frost, founder of Marriage Matching here in Osaka, Japan, specialist marriage agency, and realistically, if you want to get Omiai because you are a foreigner, get in contact with us via the website, arrange a consultation, and we will help you to find the right Japanese person for marriage. Thank you.
